Welcome to Sant La
Good Morning
Sant La Friends and Family
Happy Earned Income Tax Credit Day!!
Today, Friday, January 27th, 2012 is
the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Day,
a national grassroots effort to build awareness
around this life-changing tax credit.
As a VITA site, Sant La prepares almost 1,000 tax returns annually for low-wage workers in our community,
most of whom qualify for the EITC,
earning up to $49,078 (for a family of five).
Did you know?
It is estimated that
four out of five qualified taxpayers receive
their full benefit,
which also means that
an estimated 20-25% miss out
on their benefits.
We want to change that.
The amount of the credit is based on several factors, including the amount of an individual's earnings from wages, self-employment or farming.
A tax filer must work to qualify.
EITC is for workers whose income
does not exceed the following limits:
$43,998 ($49,078 married filing jointly)
with three or more qualifying children
$40,964 ($46,044 married filing jointly)
with two qualifying children
$36,052 ($41,132 married filing jointly)
with one qualifying child
$13,660 ($18,740 married filing jointly)
with no qualifying children
EITC can make life a little easier.
The maximum credit is:
$5,751 with three or more qualifying children
$5,112 with two qualifying children
$3,094 with one qualifying child
$464 with no qualifying children
EITC is one of the nation's largest anti-poverty programs,
annually lifting 6.6 million people out of poverty;
half of these are children.
So please
with your friends, family, colleagues and neighbors.
Who knows...
you could help us reach a few who qualify.
